Liposuction

Now among the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures, liposuction (also known as "lipoplasty" or "suction lipectomy") sculpts the body by removing undesirable fat from areas around the thighs, knees, buttocks, waist, hips, abdomen, chin, cheeks, neck and upper arms.

Liposuction is not a substitute for a healthy diet and exercise, but the procedure can dramatically improve areas of fat that are unresponsive to typical weight-loss methods, and improve body contour.

We most often utilize both "tumescent" technique and "Power Assisted" Liposuction.

Brachioplasty

Brachioplasty is the surgical recontouring of the arms. The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia.

Excessive skin is removed, sometimes in conjunction with a liposuction procedure to remove fat from the arms. For removal of large amounts of skin, an incision is required that runs from near the elbow to the armpit. The incision is placed in the most inconspicuous location (inner arm toward the back), but some scarring will always be visible. More moderate skin removal is sometimes possible with a smaller incision which is limited to the armpit area to try to keep the scar better hidden.

Thigh Lift

Thigh lifts are performed in order to tighten the loose skin of the thigh and buttock. Either the inner or outer thigh (or both) may be addressed. These procedures are most often indicated in patients who have lost a great deal of weight.

The method of surgery is to undermine the skin and remove the excess. The incision is placed around the upper thigh and buttock and/or within the groin or buttock creases. The operation is done under a general anesthetic. The procedure is one component of a "Body Lift" procedure.

Abdominoplasty ("Tummy Tuck")

Diet and exercise sometimes do little to eliminate unwanted fat and loose skin in the abdominal area. If you are bothered by these appearance problems, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) may be a good choice for you. Abdominoplasty is performed to rid a person of excess skin and to tighten the weak abdominal wall muscles. This is frequently present in women following childbirth.

There is a spectrum of procedures under the heading of tummy tuck. This includes a "mini"-abdominoplasty for the patient with fullness isolated to the lower abdomen, a "full" abdominoplasty for the patient whose laxity extends through the entire abdominal and even to a circumferential abdominoplasty to address laxity of the abdominal wall which extends to the back and thighs. Often times, liposuction will supplement the results of a tummy tuck.

The recovery period is anywhere from 7-14 days, depending on the extent of the procedure and the tightening of the abdominal wall musculature.
